FacWorld Report - March 2001

FacWorld Report - March 2001

Hi - Welcome to the first FacWorld Report we've put on a web page! We hope you find the new look easier to navigate from. We have had a number of requests for copies of earlier Reports, so you will now find a "FW Report Home" link at the top of the page which will take you to an index of all Reports.

You may have noticed some upgrades to the site since the January Report, the best of which being the ability to attach documents after the Submission stage. As the site attracts more and more usage, our readers are finding a major benefit in running their Reinsurance Portfolio online - the FacWorld team are continually working to drive greater richness and efficiencies into an already valuable process.

This month we have a variety of articles from around the globe. We start off with the second in our three part series on Non-Proportional Facultative Reinsurance, we introduce some of the issues involved in writing EPLI covers, then take a look at Disability Insurance and Hepatitis C around the world. As underwriters, we are keeping our eyes on developments in this field and working out how they will affect claims settlements in the future.

We start with the second in a series of articles on Non-Proportional Facultative Reinsurance (for the first please see the Non-Propotional Report on the Home page). This month's section looks at obtaining large capacity with Facultative Reinsurance, working with existing Treaty structures. It is available in English and German.

GeneralCologne Re has a dedicated network for Employment Practices Liability Insurance - the EPL Business Development Council. The Network are responsible for setting strategy for the group, for working with client companies in developing products to deal with EPLI issues and with producing reports on the state of the market. We are delighted to include a piece which gives an excellent introduction to the hazards of the class, illustrates underwriting issues and presents real time claims. The author of the article is Lynn Van Winkle. Lynn is a Second Vice President of the General Cologne Re based in Stamford CT and is an USD underwriter for EPLI.

Dealing with Disability Claims requires a certain expertise. The GeneralCologne Re claims department has been deeply researching this area and we would like to share some of their findings. We found them fascinating and have been desperate to publish. These articles are taken from "Risk Insights - Feb 2001" with is available on the gcr.com website. We have looked to present them in a "bite-sized" format. Please click the titles of the articles to launch.
