The Petrochemical specialty network encompasses first-party property damage exposures for all oil and gas related industrial occupancies (other than offshore drilling or rig exposures). These operations comprise Refineries, Petrochemical production facilities and plants that use refinery end products as feedstock. Supplementary operations include Tank Farms, Distribution and Transportation Systems and Pipelines.
Although these facilities are typically highly controlled and protected, they create spectacular headlines when things go wrong. Refinery and tank farm fires, Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosions (BLEVE) and Vapor Cloud Explosions ( VCE ) have catastrophic loss potentials. In order to add value to the underwriting process, your reinsurer needs to be able to understand the possibilities and predict the outcomes of such catastrophic events. |
