Q1. Who can submit risks to Gen Re?
Gen Re, through its various underwriting companies, is a Direct Professional Reinsurance writer and can not accept facultative reinsurance requests from Insured's, Brokers or Intermediaries. The submission forms on this website are for the use of insurance company clients only.
Q2. What do we mean by Professional Reinsurer?
This is a reinsurer who's primary business is reinsurance. A professional reinsurer does not compete with its customers - the insurance company professionals. Reinsurance is our business. We serve our customers with considered advice and solid capacity.
Q3. Why doesn't Gen Re deal with Brokers or Intermediaries?
Reinsurance is a relationship business. It is the relationship that allows us to understand your needs and respond quickly to your requests. We value our direct relationship with our Insurance Company customers highly and we have made a significant investment in human resources to support it. We do not believe that we could offer the level of service or attention that you expect with an intermediary breaking that direct relationship link. The tangible result of this direct relationship is a smoother and quicker flow of information and ideas, better answers, and reduced overhead.
Q4. Does Gen Re accept Business from Captives?
Yes, provided that the Captive retains enough of the risk to demonstrate its commitment to the account, its financial strength, and its underwriting and claims expertise (in the same manner as an Insurance Company client), we will entertain Captive submissions.
